This time, VSDOpen2020 will be 4-day virtual event, with 3-days of exciting hands-on tutorials from 7th – 9th October and 1-day online conference on Saturday, 10th October
VSDOpen online conference started in 2018, which is 2-years before whole VLSI world moving to online events. With 2 successful years, and an utmost desire of the community to know what’s happening in world of open-source hardware, which includes analog/digital IP’s, RISC-V and online VLSI lab based learning for workforce enrichment, this time VSDOpen
has included tutorials which will give you hands-on experience on online VLSI labs and trainings straight on VSD-IAT (Intelligent Assessment Technology) platform. This tutorial is planned from 7th to 9th October
Next big thing in Conference will be, a batch of young VLSI freshers and students have successfully built close to 20 analog IP’s which are open-sourced till its GDS, as a part of VSD 8-week Research IP design Internship program. This time, you will witness the process that students went through while building these complex IP’s in just 8-weeks. The
conference will showcase semiconductor IP designed by students, offer educational tracks and research demonstrations on 10th October
Finally, VSDOpen2020 will have three keynote speech from “the best” in Semi-conductor industry:
- Jan Rabaey, UC Berkeley – Computation in Post-Moore Era – Reflecting on the role of open-source
- Naveed Sherwani, SiFive – RISC-V and open-source hardware – A golden opportunity for India Semi-conductor industry
- Michael Wishart, eFabless – Applying community models to ICs: Why and how?
VSDOpen2020 will have 2 special invited talks from 2 well-known figures, which is extremely specific to open-source hardware licensing movement and India ESDM initiatives.
- Sunita Verma, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, MeiTY, Govt. of India
- Dr. Jeremy Bennett, Founder and Chief Executive, Embecosm
With above 2 talks, VSDOpen2020 will be concluded on some exciting notes in field of open-source hardware and a set of goals to be achieved for VSDOpen2021. Attendees can expect networking opportunities for designers, researchers, tool developers and students.
