The quotes, shown in above image, are what generally everyone is thinking about AI. There’s of lot of things going on right now and what Elon Musk is saying, that we should atleast regulate to what can or cannot be done with the use of AI and it is kind of right time because AI is influencing, and it is going to grow more significantly in next 15-20 years.

So, setup the rules now, just like cloning, cloning was a huge topic in 2000 and pretty much, practically every country on the earth now has regulation on cloning humans and/or living beings, including animals. And science has been continuously maturing, and at least now there is no known effort in that direction, in cloning humans. He’s (Elon Musk) advocating something similar that we should regulate and not let it go wild.
