Hi
It was wonderful working
with the above entire SFAL team to build a product-driven Synopsys tools-based VLSI curriculum that included IP design, digital design, mixed-signal SoC/physical design and sign-off.
VSD has been working with many teams globally, and this one was perhaps quite a different one, as all team members were the investors, in terms of time, money and infrastructure. The vision was
pretty simple and clear - Build a product-driven VLSI curriculum using proprietary tools
It took us 9-months to build, execute, and deliver a process which fits semiconductor skill development. There is still scope for improvement. Since VSD has successfully added chip tape-in and board design also, in past, as a part of its internal semiconductor curriculum using
opensource tools, a similar structure would be incorporated with proprietary tools very soon
The outcome of this process was 100% job placement, which is very important for a student. Additionally, it offered a bigger and more beautiful picture of the semiconductor industry which is process-driven. All said and done, it was a wonderful learning engagement
with SFAL and there's a long way to go. We are just getting started
Here's the link with more details about each team member. All the best and happy learning
